Disana Boiled Wool Overall with a zipper. I'd call it a snowsuit. It could also be called a bunting or outerwear. GOTS certified organic merino wool.  Made in Germany.

Size 0-3 months, 50/56 cm

Size 3-6 months, 62/68 cm

Size 6-12 months, 74/80 cm

Size 12-24 months, 86/92 cm

No puffiness. Dense yet soft merino wool keeps the baby or child's temperature regulated naturally.  Wool is warm when it is cold out yet it breathes. Excess heat and moisture can transfer out. Synthetic layers with or without waterproofings cannot do what wool does naturally.  Wool is water resistant yet air can still move for proper temperature regulation inside. Wool is amazing and organic Disana wool is not itchy like commercial wool can be. If you aren't familiar with the amazing properties of wool yet, once you try good wool, you will understand and strongly prefer it over synthetics!  Wool is so much better.

Soft and lovely boiled organic fine merino wool jersey outside. Inside you'll find a layer of very soft wool jersey in just the hood and neck area. Warmth and comfort. The warmth of boiled wool is not at all like sweaty polyester. Wool breathes and regulates body temperature.  Since it is wool, it does act like a diaper cover should a diaper leak happen, keeping the surroundings clean and dry.  Even though it could work like a cover, it is not intended as a diaper cover. It is outwear clothing.

Boiled wool is much more substantial and weighs more than thin wool items because it contains a lot of wool but it isn't lofty. It is flatter.

The zip makes it easy to put on and take off. It can be opened wide enough to allow for a diaper change while the child is still asleep.

In sizes 50/56 through 86/92, the zip-overall also has turn-up cuffs on the arms and legs. This helps the sizes fit flexibly as baby grows. The extra deep crotch leaves plenty of room for the diaper and is perfect for all babies who are carried with a sling.

Hand wash only. Made in Germany.

What is Boiled Wool?  It is not the same as "superwash" wool.  Boiled wool is a versatile fabric that has been used for centuries. It is created by a process called fulling, which involves washing and agitating the fabric in hot water. This process causes the wool fibers to shrink and interlock, resulting in a denser wool that is soft and not itchy.

GOTS certified wool and organic cotton means no worries about safety.

  • Warmth: Boiled wool is an excellent insulator yet it doesn't get too hot because it breathes
  • Breathability: allows moisture vapor to escape
  • Water resistance: The interlocked fibers of boiled wool create a natural barrier that is resistant to water penetration. This helps keep sheets dry in case of a leak.
  • Durability: The fulling process makes boiled wool more durable and more resistant to pilling. Pass this lovely item down to future children.
  • No polymer resins: Unlike boiled wool, wools that can be machine washed on warm have been processed in a different way. The fibers may be coated with a thin polymer resin or the fibers have been treated with chlorine to remove their scales. Disana GOTS certified wools must be hand washed.

Green Mountain Diapers does not sell anything made with superwash wool. Why? Purity. I don't want my wools coated with silicone or polymer resins. Besides, when I wash a product with superwash, I, Karen, can smell the chemical odor of superwash. Plus, I enjoy hand washing wool. I doesn't need to be done often, but it is satisfying and enjoyable when I do hand wash my wools.
