Under the Nile organic cotton diapers

Karen's favorite fitted diaper. I love organic 100% cotton, I love quick-and-easy to get on and off baby. I love lots of absorbency, and I prefer a fuller, non-bikini cut. (If you want something trimmer, choose Growing Greens.)
"I really love these diapers! They are wonderful." July 2, 2007, spoken by a daycare provider after changing 3 a month old wearing Under the Nile size newborn with an Imse Vimse Organic cotton cover size small over it.
These are great for daycare because they are so absorbent and easy to use. Yes, daycares can use cloth diapers!

Don't buy this diaper! Why? Because if you try one, you will love it. You will love it so much that you'll only want more of these. This we feel that this is true and our customers tell us this, too! This is the top of the line in fitted diapers, and you will get spoiled by how wonderful, effective and absorbent this is, plus it's organically grown cotton, which is so nice.
Things to know about UTN (the acronym for Under the Nile):
- Organically grown unbleached cotton
- It's a full cut diaper therefore choose a full cut cover over it
- Full cut means very absorbent. An excellent choice for nighttime (also great for daytime, of course)
- Leg gathers are very soft and gentle. It's not a curly diaper but lays quite flat. No red marks on legs, yet containment is still quite good.
- It is wide cut. Babies with thin or narrow hips don't fit this well (wings droop if diaper is too wide for baby. Some moms of narrow babies who love this diaper have resewn the velcro tabs back to under the wing material to narrow it up with excellent success.)
- Great on average babies, but if your baby has wide hips or a big tummy, look no further for a fitted diaper - this is the one that will actually fit
- Drying time will decrease and absorbency will increase after the diaper is fully broken, which takes about 6 cycles. But drying time is long.
- A nighttime favorite with a wool cover.
5.5 months in size small. He weighs about 15 pounds.
Same as above, this shows Imse Vimse Organic Velour size small cover over it. It is important to choose a full coverage cover for UTN:

Medium on 14 month old.
Above is a size medium on a 23 pound 14 month old.
14 months, 23 pounds, size small. This baby can wear a small or a medium now. Which style fit do you like? If you prefer a trim fit, a size small will be preferred. If you want more room inside to add a doubler, and growing room to last through to potty learning,
then choose size medium. Sizes do overlap.
I really like this full cut fitted diaper. Great stretchy leg gathers and a stretchy gather across the back for comfort and containment. It takes a long time to dry, but is very absorbent and beautiful.
Size newborn, 6 weeks old. I love this picture! Real babies actually do cry. You can see this newborn size is not teeny-weeny tiny, so it doesn't get outgrown in 2 seconds, so you get good use from it before it becomes too small. She still has plenty of growing room in this. It is possible that some babies might be able
to go from size newborn right into size medium. Size small is thicker and more absorbent than newborn, and slightly larger. There is size overlap between newborn and small for UTN (Under the Nile).
Below is the same exact diaper as shown above. Size newborn. This time on a 12 day old baby who is 7 pounds 11 ounces
12 days old in size newborn. Beautiful diaper!
6 months old, 17 pounds squashed in to a size NEWBORN! It really is too small on her, but the fact that I could still manage
to get it on her, shows that even though it works on a newborn, it still fits for several months, so you can get good use from it before it gets outgrown.
AHHHhh, that's better. Size Small on the same baby as above, 6 months old 17 pounds.

Since it is full cut at the hip, you need a full cut cover to fit over it properly. Use with any cover we sell except trim cut covers such as the Bummis covers - but keep reading below. Yes, Thirsties are fine with Under the Nile.
Customers tell me they use Bummis Supers with Under the Nile, but I can't make that work, it's too much tucking into the cover for me, which means if the diaper starts poking out of the cover, it will wick out onto clothes. We think a size small Under the Nile works with a size Medium Bummis Super Whisper Wrap, and a size Medium Under the Nile works with a size XL Bummis Super Whisper Wrap fine, though, and some customers make the medium UTN work with their Large Bummis Supers, but I think that's only a so-so combination. The picture at the left is a size small UTN diaper with a small Bummis Super Print. It just doesn't make it. See the green stitching of the top of the diaper sticking out? That small Bummis wrap is really to small on that baby anyhow. He is ready for a medium Bummis wrap. See how wide the tabs are placed? She got it on him, but it's really getting too small. It's common for moms to just keep using what they have and not move up to the next size as soon as they should. Babies grow faster than we realize they do!
Good choice covers that fit well over this are any of the wool, Litewrap, Imse Vimse, Thirsties. Wool is really excellent with this for a totally natural, breatheable system.
However, a UTN size small DOES fit under a Bummis Super or Super Brite in size medium quite nicely. But a UTN small doesn't fit so well under a Bummis Super size small. UTN are touted as wonderful nighttime diapers. I love them for daytime also!
