10 days old, 7 pounds 0 ounces, size newborn. Shown here over a Kissaluv size 0. The baby below in the the Andy Pandy print is the same baby as in this picture shown 7 weeks later. As a newborn, this baby definitely needed size newborn and could not have skipped it and started in size small. A 9 or more pound newborn can usually start in size small.
New! Cord dip on Super Snap size newborn, snap version only. The cord dip is only a tiny bit lower in front. Yes, maybe a little better for those first couple of days with the cord, but that makes the cover a little shorter in front so there is a bit less room for the diaper. This 5 week old is 11 pounds, 11 ounces and is already in a size small Bummis Super Snap. He's quite big. He's actually a little larger than the 10 week old in the pink shirt and small Froggie at the very top of this page. He really is big. Babies come in so many different sizes and shapes, and they all grow at different rates. Often the young larger babies, like this one, fit the Super Snap better than the Super Whisper (Aplix).
But most babies, perhaps about 75%, get a better fit from the Super Whisper. The Super Snap fits a little wider and larger in the legs, I think.
Medium Super Snap on 4 month old, 16 pounds, over red edge Cloth-eez prefold. This is perfect on his chubby legs, and as he gets taller it will continue to fit for a long time. Never a worry about a closure scratch with snaps. Snap closure is comfy on the tummy.
5.5 months old, 18 pounds. This mom has a Regular

A big 4 month old 19 pound baby. Under this is a Brown Edge Cloth-eez prefold, snappi fastened. Some babies are big! This baby is larger for fit than the 24 pound 17 month old in the Star Baby cover with the yellow shirt above. You need to consider weight, shape and age when choosing sizes. Sometimes babies who are big when young
get taller as the get older, and continue to fit the same size. Sometimes babies need size large at the chubby 6-8 months old age or pre-crawling stage. Then when they
start crawling and walking and getting taller, they slim down and need mediums again at 13 months old or so.
Shapes change and every baby is unique.
A 31 pound 20 month old toddler in a Bummis Super Snap size large with an
unpinned Toddler size prefold underneath. Bummis fit all shapes and sizes.
Above is a 25 pound 18 month who still fits the Medium Super Snap on the last snaps nicely. A large is still too big on this toddler.
Size Large on a 22.5 pound 17 month old. She probably can fit a medium also, but the large works already on her with growing room. Sizes do overlap and the shape of the baby matters.
